A GHOST STORY
Chilling in the back garden | Composite Image | Lilli Hannah
Technique: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Photo Manipulation, iPhone camera, Self timer
Process: This process began with taking a video of myself with a sheet over myself, posing in different poses.  I then screen shotted the poses from the video and edited them in Lightroom and created a filter that was low in colour, high in contrast and grain. I then put the ghosts in photoshop and removed the background. I applied the same filter preset I made to all of the seperate images including the bonsai background and the lamp. With the lamp I used the pen tool to create a soft glow by adjusting the opacity and style of pen. I used the burn tool in photoshop to create shadows the subjects would make as if they were actually there. After placing all of the objects, I adjusted some of the brightness and contrast to all match. I also added grain to then final image to create a old, vintage, instant camera look, matching with the old lamp and ghost theme. The grain also helped all the seperate components blend in with each other.
Reflection: I believe this photoshoot was successful in creating a false reality using photo manipulation. I learned a lot of new skills doing this as well, using the pen tool for more than drawing and using video stills to create this image. It was fun to see it all come together and it even looks convincing to me after editing it.
